Stuff I Find
Welcome to 2026
Hi all,
1.I hope Santa was as kind to you as he was to me? My favourite gift was my Airpods Pro 3. I use (and have used) my Airpods for most of my day, every day for listening to stuff (obviously) but also for phone calls so they are worth the AUD419 price tag to me. This model has a few innovations such as noise cancelling which properly cancels noise so nothing get’s through now. Not that I have much need for this but it’s clever anyway, they can handle live translation across a range of languages, and they now detect your heartbeat. So they are expensive, but given the value and every day use I get out of them, they’re definitely worth it. Highly recommended.
2.A few month’s ago I recommended Scott Galloway’s book, Notes on Being a Man. I spent the last few days reading it and it is an excellent book. A mix of autobiography and philosophy, Scott uses his own experience, good and bad, to provide a blueprint for not just ways in which men should act and behave but also managing a career and finances. I bought it for my brother-in-law and I keep thinking of people who would very much enjoy it, both male and female. I’ve read Scott’s other books like The Four (about Amazon, Apple, Google and Facebook) and The Algebra of Happiness all of which are also excellent and worth a read and I’ve talked about his podcasts like Pivot in the past. I love his style and his thinking, and this book is a very honest and often raw look at his own life and the lessons he’s drawn which might be useful to others. Good for people of any age but especially the young men in your life.
3.Taylor Sheridan is a prolific writer of TV shows and is responsible for shows such as Yellowstone and Landman amongst others. I read good things about Mayor of Kingstown so we started watching it last week. His other shows have centred on the life in rural America, but Mayor of Kingstown is very much urban and has a similar feel to The Wire only this is much more engaging for me (sorry Will). It really speaks to Sheridan’s breadth that he can wrote stuff like this as well as Yellowstone and Lioness. Well worth your time.
Look after yourself,
Ben
